So if you're looking for a simple biscuit or roll to serve with dinner, try these cheddar biscuits. You will not be disappointed.
WHAT IS A "DROP BISCUIT"?
Drop biscuits are the easiest biscuits to make in the biscuit world. Why? There is no kneading, shaping or cutting of biscuits. You literally just scoop out a bit of batter with a spoon and then "pour" it onto the baking sheet. Drop biscuit dough is a little wetter and stickier than traditional biscuit dough so you can scoop it out with a spoon.
CAN I SUBSTITUTE HEAVY CREAM?
No, unfortunately, heavy cream is the magic ingredient in these biscuits. Since there is no butter in this recipe, you need a higher fat heavy cream to make up for its absence. The fat in the heavy cream is what allows these biscuits to be so delicious, light, fluffy and soft.
DROP BISCUITS ARE FREEZER FRIENDLY!
Like most breads and baked goods, these Cheddar Drop Biscuits are freezer friendly! Which is great, especially if you have a small household. To freeze these biscuits, simply bake as usual and then let them cool completely at room temperature. Once cooled, transfer to a freezer bag and freeze for up to three months. To thaw, let them come to room temperature, and then reheat briefly in a hot oven.
