BEST COTTAGE CHEESE BREAKFAST BOWLS 6 WAYS RECIPE
Food trends are one factor that can have a significant impact on ingredient costs. It's all about the laws of supply and demand. If demand is low but supply is relatively stable, costs will fall. And do you know what food isn't quite trendy at the moment? cheese. It may not be a popular food, but it is very versatile and a great source of cheap protein. So I will try to make it popular again. ?? Start with breakfast bowls of ready-to-eat cottage cheese.
SIX WAYS TO EAT CHEESE FOR BREAKFAST
How To Prepare Your Own Breakfast Dishes From Cottage Cheese To Eat
I've made each of the six different flavors for the pictures in this post, but you'll likely get the most out of your time and money if you make four flavors one at a time. This way you won't have to buy several different ingredients for each ingredient, or eat partial leftovers like half a banana, a cucumber, or an apple. Use whole pieces of fruit and make more than one bowl at a time.
If you are concerned about your apples and bananas turning brown, you can slice them fresh daily. Personally, I prefer doing it all at once and not worrying about appearance later. The brown color doesn't mean it's rotten, just that it's been exposed to oxygen.
Breakfast plates made with ready-made cheese will keep for about four days in the refrigerator.
What Food Prep Containers Do You Use?
I'm slowly switching from plastic Ziploc containers to glass. Ziploc containers are inexpensive, convenient (lightweight), dishwasher- and freezer-friendly, and a great option if you're on a tight budget. Glass containers are great because they are so durable, they can be put in the dishwasher and freezer (even in the oven!), they last a lifetime, thus reducing waste. The glass containers pictured are part of a 26-piece set made by Anchor Hocking, and can be found in my Amazon store. I also love Pyrex glass meal prep containers.
Customize The Cost And Nutritional Content Of Breakfast Bowls
I wanted to show you different ways to use cottage cheese in your breakfast bowl so you can see that not only do you blend in many different flavors, but you can also tailor the dishes to fit your own price point and nutritional needs. This is the first post on Budget Bites that includes nutritional content (we'll be adding to the rest of the site starting this week!), so you can see how the different dishes compare. All statistics below were calculated using 2% fat cottage cheese.
Are you ready to check out all these great flavors? Yes, I call cottage cheese awesome.
How To Make Breakfast Dishes With Cottage Cheese
Apple with Cinnamon:
This Apple Cinnamon Apple Cinnamon Cottage Cheese Breakfast Bowl is the perfect flavor for cheese beginners. It's not scary at all. It's like a yogurt parfait, but with a slightly different texture! And honestly, with all the textures of apples and walnuts, you won't notice the texture of cottage cheese at all.
If you're worried about your apple turning brown, slice it fresh every day or sprinkle some lemon juice on it immediately after you've cut it.

Peanut Butter and Jelly:
This flavor may be more experimental for some. If you think cottage cheese is a lot like yogurt, it may help you to imagine what this mix tastes like. Cottage cheese is similar to yogurt, and is less acidic, so it tastes more creamy. It goes well with both sweet (jam) and savory (PB) flavors. The oats in this bowl will absorb moisture while they're stored, just like overnight oats, but you can eat them right away while the oats are still dry. Bananas would also be a great addition to this bowl!

Almond Blueberry:
This simple bowl is sure to be a hit with familiar breakfast flavors. Again, the cottage cheese breakfast bowl is similar to a yogurt parfait, but with the cheese replaced with yogurt. A little honey drizzle on top makes the bowl look like this. It almost tastes like blueberry cheesecake!

Tropical Pot:
It's a bit like an ambrosia salad, except for lousy stuff like marshmallows and maraschino cherries. Ha ha ha! Cream cheese pairs so well with sweet tropical fruits, as if they were made for each other! I recommend using canned pineapple tales for this bowl, because canning destroys an enzyme called bromelain, which can react with dairy products and make them taste bitter. Just make sure the pineapple is canned in juice, not syrup.
